Biographies

Martin Padley

Chair of the WUK Standards Board. Martin has worked within the water industry in a range of technical, asset, regulatory, scientific and operational roles since 1994. He has a degree and PhD in Chemistry, is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a Chartered Chemist.

Panos Achilleos

Panos is a Chartered Water & Environmental Manager with nearly a decade of experience in the UK water industry, leading the development of national resilience and crisis management policy. He is technical secretary for the WUK’s Operations Strategy Group, working closely with government departments, regulators, and critical infrastructure partners to deliver industry-wide strategy & guidance that safeguard operational and reputational continuity. Previously at Thames Water, where he managed environmental compliance and operational policy initiatives.

Alan Brown

26 years in water & wastewater overseeing NWL’s compliance, optimisation & innovation including: process support; water regulation; asset management; medium – long term water strategies.

Chair, WUK Strategic Drinking Water Quality Network for the last 8 years. Member, WUK Clean Water Committee. Former IOW Northern Area President focusing on collaboration & partnership.

Jason Dearlove

30 Years’ experience in asset standards, operations and maintenance. This has included roles in Waste Treatment & Bio Solids ranging from process optimisation to regional operations & maintenance, leading technical standards teams and pioneering projects including Green Energy, RCM & Asset Care. Currently involved in all aspects of sewer monitoring and data analytics.

Mark Garth

Experienced Executive Director, Chartered Water & Environment Manager and CIWEM member. 25 years’ water industry experience.  Director for the Environment at United Utilities, overseeing associated regulation, data, performance, and strategic investments.  Formerly UU Director of Wastewater – 8 million population. Extensive cross-sector experience of senior leadership, transformation, and operations with expertise in wastewater treatment, biochemistry and technologies. Previously  District General Manager at Scottish Power Energy Networks after senior operational & transformation roles in water / wastewater at Severn Trent. Registered expert in wastewater treatment & technologies with the Government Office for Science / Scientific Advice for Govt in Emergencies (SAGE).

Matt Jackson

Over 30 years in the water industry covering a wide variety of roles and topics, including Water Quality, DWSPs and Water Fittings. Matt has worked closely with Water Regs UK (formally WRAS) for many years and is currently on the WaterSafe Board.

Paul Millard

Over 30 years’ experience within the water industry, the last 17 years focusing on providing technical expertise and guidance on the interpretation of the Water Fittings Regulations.  Currently providing technical support and liaison with external organisations along with water industry representation on national standards.

Geoff Miller

Chartered Civil Engineer, Chartered Water & Environmental Manager, Certified Risk Manager. Over 50 years experience in the water industry. 30 years experience in parallel on standards’ development & maintenance as WUK Standards Representative, BSI Committee Member, BSI Committee Chair, CEN & ISO Working Group Convenor, and CEN & ISO Technical Committee Member.
