IGN 4-00-02 Issue 8.1 Information and guidance for the development and amendment of specifications and guidance notes for the water industry
This document provides guidance to the water industry and its suppliers on the development & amendment of Water Industry Specifications (WISs) and Information and Guidance Notes (IGNs).
It covers the preparation and amendment of WIS & IGN, the formal authorisation procedure prior to both commencement and publication and describes editorial requirements for the documents’ production. The aim is to achieve both quality & consistency in the resulting documents.

Requires updating. Implementation challenges experienced.
Continue to use Issue 8.1 pending revision – in liaison with Standards Board Technical Secretary – who is charged with the IGN’s updating.
